"Anka", as her call name is, actually has the meaning "Duck" in English but despite her name she is a real Pharaoh Hound. Not that she had any likeness with a duck when she arrived in our home - Anka is just short for her registered name Ankhesunamun. But even so, today many people playfully call her "the duck", maybe because she sometimes acts like a wild bathing duck, running around outside, just as happy even when it’s raining.
Anka is our first Pharaoh Hound and she has one of the greatest personalities I have ever seen in a dog. She is like a red sports car with an inexhaustible energy and incredible charisma. Anka started her show career already as a 4 months old and won no less than 10 BOB puppy including BOB at both breed specialties that year. She was also placed in the Puppy BIS several times in though competition. Nine months old she started out in the junior class and before she was even one year old she had won quite a few CC's, BOB and junior BIS wins and placements. Because of the energy our red lady possesses, we decided to cut down on her show career and instead try her luck in the field. Soon we came to realize that Lure Coursing is what Anka loves the most. She took her LC - license during autumn 2001. She won two out of four trials during 2002 and with that she gained two of the three CC's needed to become a Swedish Lure Coursing champion. Since the CC's must be obtained over two seasons we now really look forward to future trials and hopefully a championtitle! She has been shown very sparse during 2002 and became a Swedish champion on her first try after she turned two years old, and with that she also became a Norwegian champion. In June 2003 she completed her International and Nordic champion titles. The best way to describe Anka is really that she is the most kind and soft lady one can imagine. At home she is calm and dignified and at trials she becomes obsessed with energy. If I were to describe her with three words it would definitely be; (super) elegant, (super) feminine and (super) energetic! Anka is from a litter of seven puppies, five males and two females. Among these worth mentioning is her brother SV-00 S Ch Faouziah's Akunosh who became a father of seven bitches at kennel Faouziah’s the summer of 2001. These seven bitches are still youngsters but of very good quality and one of them, Kiri, can be found here at our house. In November 2002 Anka gave birth to the first litter of Xemxija puppies consisting of one male and two females. Read more about them under 'Litters'.
